We thoroughly believe in the idea that form follows function. Since everyone functions differently, it is impossible to develop the form of a project without a thorough understanding of how the space will be utilized by its inhabitants.

Having the ability to work in and blend many architectural styles allows us to manipulate the form of a project by incorporating influences from many different sources. This enables us to maintain the look, feel and function that appeals to the client.

Working in the Pacific Northwest, nature is everywhere and sun can be scarce. Location of buildings for view, weather and solar exposure is paramount. Connecting interior and exterior space is very important in our work. Many times we will set up a transit and survey the building site on our own to determine the best location and orientation. We strive to make outdoor space an extension of the interior and expand living space to the outdoors.

We are technically proficient. Having a thorough background in construction gives us a comprehensive understanding of the building process and what it takes to construct a lasting structure in our climate. Tom brings his years of experience to every project and functions as the team's day-to-day quality control. He works directly with craftsmen and subcontractors to make certain everything is done to the highest standard. Whether this means wriggling around in a crawl space or being four stories high on scaffolding, Tom doesn't take anyone's word for it. He personally inspects all construction and, in addition to our project supervisor, is on site nearly every day.
